Pastor John W. Godfrey Jr. was privileged to be born into a pastorís home. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of five. He attended and graduated from Great Hope Baptist School in Chesapeake, Virginia. After high school, Bro. Godfrey attended Ambassador Baptist College where he received a bachelorís degree in Bible and Pastoral Studies. After his junior year of college, he married Kristin, his childhood sweetheart. He then began working fulltime at Ambassador Baptist College as the Menís Dormitory Supervisor.
After three years, God moved the Godfrey family to Chesapeake, Virginia where Bro. Godfrey became a staff member of Great Hope Baptist Church. He had the privilege of being the Youth Pastor and working with his father who is the pastor.
During the six years that Pastor Godfrey was in Chesapeake, he attended Tabernacle Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Religious Education degree. God has blessed the Godfrey family with six wonderful boys. On November 13, 2011 Pastor Godfrey accepted the Pastorate of Immanuel Baptist Church in Clifton Forge, Virginia, and it is his desire to have a ministry founded on Biblical preaching and focused on building families. Assistant Pastor Dan Hefner
Pastor Dan Hefner had the privilege of being reared in a godly home, and was saved at the age of fourteen at a Christian summer camp. He attended high school at Ambassador Baptist Academy in Lattimore, NC. He then continued his studies at Ambassador Baptist College, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Bible and Music Ministry, with a proficiency in voice. After graduating in 2008, he
married Sarah, who also attended Ambassador Baptist College.
For the next five years, the Hefners volunteered at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC, working in children's ministries, leading teen and children's choirs, and assisting as adult counselors in the youth group. The Lord has seen fit to bless the Hefners with five children: Kayla, Judson, Audrey, Titus, and Spurgeon.
Pastor Hefner joined our church family as Minister of Music and Assistant to the Pastor in April of 2013. Our music ministry at Immanuel is characterized by vibrant singing, a passion for excellence, and a Biblical concept of corporate and personal worship, with a focus on holiness and distinction from the musical styles of the World.
